Frequently Asked Questions
about IconForge and ActivIcons
Q: Is it OK to use an icon I've extracted from a Microsoft program in my own work?
- Probably not. Unless you have explicit, written permission from the creator and copyright owner of a graphic, the answer is almost always a resounding "NO" (the rare exception would be if you know for a fact that the graphic is in the public domain, or that the copyright has expired). For information specifically about usage of graphics from Microsoft products, see this link. In your case, a better solution would be to create your own icon.
