Frequently Asked Questions
about IconForge and ActivIcons
Q: My icons only display in 16-colors on my Windows 95/98/NT desktop? What's wrong, I am running in True-Color mode, so shouldn't I be able to see all the colors?
- In order to view 256-color or 16-million-color icons, you must have configured your Display in the Windows Control Panel for Hi-Color or True-Color modes. Since you have done this, it seems that your Windows system is not configured to display more than 16-color icons. to correct this:
- Click on the Start button, select the Settings menu item, then select the Control Panel;
- In the Control Panel window, click on the Display icon;
- If you are running Win98, ME, 2000 or XP, click on the Effects tab, then place a checkmark in the Display icons using all possible colors box;
- If you are running Win95 or NT, click on the Plus tab, then place a checkmark in the Display icons using all possible colors box. (If you do not have a Plus tab in your Display properties, download and install our ActivIcons utility to obtain all possible colors);
