Q:My icons have turned black, how do I fix? Also: A logo is covering some of the icons on my desktop. Suddenly, the wrong icons are substituted for my icons in Explorer - do I have a virus?
- Your system's icon cache is likely too small for the number of icons on your system. Try increasing the cache's size to 2048 or 4096 on the ActivIcons "Desktop Controls" screen. Once you have done this, you might also want to purge the cache of records for icons which are no longer on your system. Since a reboot will be required, you should first shut down any programs which are running in the background. Next, go to the lower/right corner of the ActivIcons screen and locate two small, round buttons. Finally, click the round button farthest to the lower/right corner. Your system will reboot, and the icon cache will be cleaned out. The next time you go into Windows, there may be a pause in displaying icons while Windows re-reads the icons found on your system.
