Q: I run ActivIcons automatically each time I boot. Is there some way for the splash screen to disappear automatically, i.e., without me having to hit the Enter key?

• You need to upload version 2.1 or later to be able to do this (note that if ActivIcons is placed into the same folder with IconForge, not the demo but the registered version, the splash screen should not be displayed at startup). In version 2.1, the intro screen automatically disappears after several seconds. You can reduce this time by editing your system's Registry:
  1. run Regedit.exe;
  2. click down to the
     HKEY_CURRENT_USER
      \Software
      \CursorArts
      \IconForge key;
  3. use Regedit's Edit/New to insert a new String Value;
  4. rename the value to: Interval
  5. right-click on Interval and select Modify;
  6. assign a number in the Value Data field which is between 100 and 10000 (the lower the number the shorter the display;
  7. select Exit from the Registry menu and then reboot.
  Editing the Windows Registry can be very risky if you delete the wrong thing, so please follow the directions carefully. You may wish to make backup copies of your Registry files prior to editing. If in doubt, you may want to get a friend who is comfortable editing the Registry to help you.
