Permanent Favorites Icons

Favorites icons can eventually disappear from some browsers. This is because they are stored within the Temporary Internet Files cache. These files are deleted automatically when the cache becomes full. To get the icon back:
  • Download the favorite icon using IconForge's Acquire Icon from FavIcon function (under the File menu);
  • This function will download a fresh copy of the icon file
  • Use the Save As function (under the File menu) to store the icon into a folder other than the Temporary Internet Files cache;
  • Run Internet Explorer;
  • Right-click on the Favorites link;
  • Choose Properties;
  • Select the Web Document tab;
  • Click the Change Icon button, and select the icon file which you downloaded with IconForge.

    Some Windows configurations will block you from changing a Favorites icon. If you experience this:
  • Go to IconForge's Edit menu;
  • Choose Change Windows Shell Icons;
  • Go to the Folders screen;
  • Double-click the Favorites folder (in the column on the right side);
  • Change the icon from here.
