Options: Icon Color Depth

This function allows you to select from the standard color resolutions for Windows-format icons/cursors. The allowable number of colors for icons and cursors are 2-color (black&white), 16, 256, 16-million colors (24-bit: Windows 95, 98, ME), and 16-million colors (32-bit with Alpha Channel: Windows XP only).

When in 256 color resolution, you may import, save and manipulate color palettes from other images or from previously saved palette files by using the Set Palette function.

Note, that you may switch color resolutions while editing and IconForge will adjust the colors within the image to the newly available colors. When necessary, individual icon frames within an animated icon will be reduced to 16 or 256 color resolution when the frame is saved.
