How To: Filter a Region

Normally, using one of the Effects filters will apply the filter to the entire image. However, you can also apply the filter to a selected region. Here is how to do it:

1) Use the Scissors tool to select the region to which you want to apply the effect. Double-click the Scissors to get additional shapes;

2) Click the Replicate button to make a duplicate of the area;

3) Go to the Effects menu, and apply the filter;

4) Once you have clicked the Apply button for the filter, the selected region should be filtered. You may then go on to use other tools.
