Pen Tips

PRO
version only. Custom brushes are accessed from the Brush drop-down on the tool Options Bar (located just above the main editing area).

Use the Pen Size slider to control the size of the brush/line stroke.

The
Intensity slider controls the transparency of the line. Use the Edge option to give a softer edge to the brush or line. Move the slider to the left to make the brush increasingly softer, or move all the way to the right to produce a crisp, hard-edged brush. To produce anti-aliased lines and shapes, move the Edge control slightly to the left.

You may choose from preconfigured brush shapes at the bottom of the screen, or choose from a list of custom brushes along the right side. You can also enable the
Randomly Rotate Brush option to produce interesting effects with both custom brushes and clipart brushes.

You can create and edit custom brushes by clicking the
Brush icons at the top of the list window. When editing an image for use as a brush, lighter areas will apply more of the selected color to the image. Darker areas in the brush will allow more of the background to show through (black areas will be completely transparent).

Note: when creating a new brush, we recommend creating the brush in shades of gray and with a size of 100x100 pixels.
